Do you have any idea what today is, folks? Today is September 22nd, a day forever immortalized in song by one Mr. Nathan Angelo. He’s known ’round these parts (mi casa) as “Uncle” Angelo, a name he gave himself in relationship to our twin girls O and Ro. Those Italians and their “take charge” attitude–love it. Some of you may know of the Nathan as the super-duper-uber-talented musical artist that’s the best thing the rest of the world has yet to catch wind of. For now, his music is something you and your friends relish as your “inside” thing, but people, that will most likely not always be the case.

Nathan’s not really comparable to anyone, but I will tell you his stuff has a soul-pop bent. It’s driven by an earnestness built in the lyrics and melody but delivered fresh, hot and on time with his surging vocals and accomplished piano skills. Yeah, he’s got some skills in the studio, yo, and some crazy antics to go with. In the midst of recording, I can hear screams, laughter, and animal calls from the studio below. Don’t be fooled by that serious mug, folks. While Uncle Angelo is a serious musician with professional and personal integrity, he’s also the lovable and loyal jokester the likes of which you hope your baby girls will end up with one day. Yeah, he’s THE nice guy. Scouts’ honor.

The hubs met the Nathan over five years ago when they began recording his first record, Through Playing Me. Since then, Nathan’s toured all over our great country and released the EP These Ol’ Keys–goodness all around, to be sure. HOWEVER, I am very happy to report that as of today, September 22, 2010, Uncle Angelo is finishing up his latest endeavor, Follow Your Heart, with the hubs again as producer. Needless to say, these boys will be doing some serious celebrating this evening post mix tweaks.

But you probably don’t care about that so much. What you do care about is does this Atlanta-based (we just need the right girl to steal his heart and get him here in Nashville for good), Italiano, frenetic ball of energy have the chops to keep you entertained, toes tappin’ and all? The answer, my friends, is a resounding “yes,” but don’t just take my word for it. (It’s also more than worth mentioning the Mr. Micah Dalton joining Nathan on acoustic guitar here. The hubs has also had the honor of working with Micah, and guys, you really do need to check his stuff out. So, so, SO great. Do I sound pushy yet? GOOD.)

Nathan Angelo is the real deal, folks, with real chops. While the hubs is one heck of a producer (if I do say so myself), when you get to work with someone like Nathan it’s not really so much work as it is pure joy.
