May the best pet compadre win!

My baby boy Yogi, is the best pet ever! He has gotten me through a very rough several months. He knows when I am down, upset or depressed and will give me lots of kisses, then curl up in my lap and stay there until I am ok. He is my emotional support and my super hero!
I dare take only a minute to expound on why our Derby is the greatest best friend ever. She is kind, gentle, intuitive and jolly. She reminds me to always find amusement in the little things. Last fall, while on a walk amidst the leaves concurrently falling with a breeze, she would hop (yes, hop) to try to catch them in her mouth. For most of the walk. She reminds me to be patient when hurried and anxious, and induldge in whatever time a friend is able to give. Now that Anna’s of toddlerhood, she’s discovered the utterly blissful joy of playing fetch with Derby. As much as Derby wants to run run run to catch her ball, alas, Anna’s little 19 month-old chicken arm can only throw it so far…so, Derby, still eagerly obliging, goes the full 1-2 foot distance to retrieve her toy, fully well knowing the next throw will be just as lackluster, but tailwagging all the same. She protects the womenfolk. When Colin’s on call at the hospital, she doesn’t eat her supper. She barks more at goings-on outside. She knows she’s next in charge of our safety.
Ah minute’s up. But, heavy sigh, I love her.
