So last night the hubs and I took the babes out the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville to see “Chihuly at Night.” To be totally honest, we didn’t get through admission until 8 pm, and the girls usually hit the hay within the next hour. Needless to say, there was some melting toward the end, which led to glances indicating, “I told you so,” from the hubs.
I may have pushed us a bit, but in the end, it was totally worth it. Dale Chihuly is such a crazy talent. His glass work is even more re-donc-u-lous all lit up at night. Please observe the goodness that is “The Dale”:
I’ll start small with these, which remind me a bit of those wacky “birds of paradise”:
Here’s a closer look:
This one opened the exhibit. It kinda looks like a giant banana, but it was a really ginormous spectacle–in a good way.
Here’s a little taste of what I like to call, “Little Bellagio”:
Here are a few little gum drops/overblown Christmas ornaments/glass orbs floating in water. Somehow, my descriptions seems to be taking away from the beauty of it all. They really were fantastic.
Oh, check this fella out; it’s a giant sunburst. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Stunning. Fantastico…
The close-up’s even better, yo. Check it:
Wowsers.
Last, my fave. I like to call it “The Boat of Goodness.” I hearted it. Mucho.
Yum.
Well, done, Mr. Chihuly. Well. Done.
