If you’ve ever asked someone what they would need to take with them in an emergency, then you can sort of figure out what their daily lives are like at the moment. Of course, we’d all grab our loved ones, telephones, maybe a valuable if given the extra minute, but what about the occasions that aren’t necessarily emergent? Maybe they just save you time, or energy, or sanity. Or more importantly, maybe they just bring you a little joy.

I thought I’d feature a few of those things today. The things that maybe aren’t necessities in an emergency but most certainly are in day-to-day life.

Meal Prep Must. New moms always say their kids won’t watch a lot of TV. Until they have twins. And those twins become toddlers. Toddlers who crawl up your legs while trying to chop vegetables for dinner. For that reason, I give you a true revelation in “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.” What can I say? It helps me make dinner, and I get to watch O and Ro sing and dance along with Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” Yes, really. Oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh…

Hair Did, Done. When I do get to wash my hair, I go with Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious products (thanks Fruition!). Recently (and once again), I got it stuck in my head (not hair) that I, with curly hair, might be able to straighten it. In this Southern heat and humidity. Not pretty people. Straightening is great, but not everyday–for me at least. I gotsta go with my hair’s agenda. How do you rule the unruly?

Summer’s Sweetest (Foodie) Treat. I don’t do dairy often (sinuses closing at the thought), so it’s got to be seriously delicioso to risk the consequences. I’ve recently been introduced to and written about something so totally worth it: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. It’s literally the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Flavors like wildberry lavender, salty caramel, goat cheese with red cherries, and rhubarb and lime cardamom are so unique and fabulous. You can order online and even make the recipes at home. And if you’re in Columbus, Ohio or Nashville (like me!), you can find it at Hot and Cold Nashville (in Hillsboro Village by Fido) or at the new stand alone store opening June 23 in East Nashville. How great is Music City?

What’s making life better for you this week? Give it up, peeps!
