Out of my eight years of teaching, this is my favorite photograph of my (former) students. While I'm fully aware of which students are standing before George Seurat's Grande Jatte (a print of the famous pointillism painting and two other modern takes used to hang in my classroom as lessons in Greek and Latin roots--Word NERD much?), I like to ...more»
After this year, space missions with astronauts will be a thing of the past. Quite a sad thought, really, when you consider how many little boys grow up dreaming of walking on the moon. First, the truth about Pluto and now this. It's a lot for kiddos to take in. Frankly, it's a lot for their fathers to accept, too. ...more»

The hubs has worked with some of these folks before, and we've been lucky enough to call some of them and their families friends. They're good peeps--trust--talented musicians, and clearly, ...more»
No need to beat around the bush about the obvious: I'm a sucker for: a) reality show competitions; b) Bravo TV; c) Bravo TV reality show competitions; d) ALL of the above. D-d-duh! The answer can only mean I loves me some Emmy-winning "Top Chef" (suck it, "Amazing Race"--I kid). This season's "Top Chef All-Stars" is even better, with all ...more»

Winslet plays the title character in a sure to be award season favorite.
